Dr. Anne Schultz is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician and clinical instructor of medicine at Northwestern University Medical School, where she has won countless Excellence in Teaching awards and has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. In 2020, Anne was honored to be elected by her peers to serve a four-year term as Governor of the American College of Physicians(ACP) for Northern Illinois. With 161,000 members, ACP is the largest medical specialty organization in the world. Anne’s clinical interests include cholesterol, high blood pressure, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease management and risk reduction. She has additional expertise, training and/or certification in menopause (Certified MSCP) and obesity (Member, Obesity Medicine Association).

Anne graduated cum laude from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1987. She was raised by two physician parents, Dr. Warren Furey and Dr. Nancy Furey. She attributes her parents’ love for their profession and her Jesuit education for her strong sense of “service above self”. Anne worked in policy research for the Subcommittee on Health, Committee on Ways and Means, in Washington D.C., and for Aetna Health Plans before enrolling in graduate school for public health. She attended medical school at Northwestern University and was invited to continue her training there as a member of the 2000 Internal Medicine residency class where she received the A.A. Goldsmith Award. This award is given to the first-year resident who best exemplifies the ideal of genuine humaneness and empathy toward patients and the patients’ families.

Anne is recognized broadly as a connector and role model for general internists. At the April 2022, national ACP meeting, Anne and her father, Dr. Warren Furey, competed and placed first and second in the Annals of Internal Medicine National Story Slam. In addition to patient care, Anne served nearly two decades in clinical leadership for Northwestern Medicine. Anne is known as a mentor to early career physicians and champion of women in medicine. Anne continues to teach at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and has admitting privileges at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. In October 2024, Anne received the ACP Laureate Award which is given to physicians who have rendered distinguished service to their profession and the community and have upheld the high ideals and professional standards for which the American College of Physicians is known.

Beyond practicing medicine, Anne enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle having hiked sixty miles of the Tour Mont Blanc (TMB) Trail in the Alps and completed the Kortelopet of the American Birkebeiner. A great day involves playing golf with her husband, Bob, and son, Jim. She can often be spotted around town or hiking in DuPage County Forest preserves with her two golden retrievers, Maggie and Mulligan.

Anne is grateful for the opportunity to return to her Hinsdale hometown roots and partner with Cindy in the only female-founded, women-owned direct primary care practice in the western suburbs. She is humbled and honored to be able to continue to focus on outstanding, authentic patient care.

Dr. Cindy Lagone isa board-certified internal medicine physician and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine who has been practicing at Northwestern Medicine since 1993.

A lifelong resident of the Chicago suburbs, Cindy earned her bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Notre Dame. She graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed her residency in internal medicine at Northwestern University. Upon completing her training, Cindy joined Northwestern’s faculty, beginning her academic career as an Instructor of Clinical Medicine and later advancing to Assistant Professor of Medicine.

Cindy has been deeply involved in medical education, mentoring, and patient care throughout her career. She served as a College Mentor for the “Lagone College” at Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine and has received numerous awards for Excellence in Teaching. Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Cindy is celebrated for her dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment and inspiring students and residents through her compassionate and thorough approach to patient care.

Her most recent leadership roles have included serving as Assistant Primary Care Director for Northwestern Medical School and as a member of the Northwestern Medicine Faculty Affairs Committee. Cindy has also been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. Cindy specializes in preventive medicine and managing acute and chronic conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and obesity. As a member of the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA), she brings a comprehensive approach to her work. Additionally, her personal experience as a breast cancer survivor has cultivated a special interest in supporting patients through active treatment and survivorship care.

Cindy is known for her integrated approach to patient care, emphasizing individual preferences and goals. Her patients value her thorough evaluations, compassionate care, and clear, actionable advice. She feels honored to guide her patients through the often complex healthcare system.

Outside of her professional life, Cindy enjoys cooking, reading, exercising, and spending time with her husband, four grown children, and their partners. She cherishes moments of connection, laughter, and shared meals with family and friends.

‍Dr. Michael Alebich is a board-certified internal medicine physician who brings over a decade in both outpatient and inpatient internal medicine to the AIM team.

‍Michael (better known as Mike, or Dr. Mike if you insist on titles) was raised in Oak Brook and did not stray far from home to receive his education at the local institutions of Benedictine University, and Midwestern University. He completed his residency training in internal medicine with a primary care focus at both Rush University Medical Center and the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County (formerly Cook County Hospital). In 2014, he was honored with the Internal Medicine Resident Teaching Award from Rush University Medical Center. Following his residency training, he was selected to serve as chief medical resident at Stroger Hospital where he joined as an attending physician in 2015.

‍Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, he was honored to receive numerous awards for his teaching at Stroger Hospital. In 2019, the American College of Physicians selected Michael as recipient of the prestigious Laureate Award and, in 2023, the Teaching and Mentorship Award. Michael led Stroger Hospital’s documentation quality improvement project and served as core faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency Program, where he assisted countless trainees in pursuing their academic and career goals. During his 10+ years as a clinician and educator, he held assistant professorships at Rush Medical College and The Chicago Medical School. Currently, he serves as Treasurer of the Northern Illinois Chapter of the American College of Physicians and chairs the post-graduate education committee. He is published in the New England Journal of Medicine Evidence and the Journal of Hospital Medicine, among others. Michael has staff privileges at Northwestern Medicine Hospitals and is a member of the Northwestern Medicine Physician Network.

‍Michael sees his role as a physician as a calling of service. He aims to treat his patients as he would a member of his own family. Being a large public teaching hospital, he was met with a wide variety of common and complex diseases from around the globe. This exposure forged an ability to manage numerous issues at once, recognize rare diagnoses, and navigate the challenges of a public hospital while never losing sight of the big picture. This translates to providing rationale for your tests and treatments, prompt communication of your results and plan, advocacy on your behalf when interacting with other specialties, and a direct line of communication. He prides himself on paying attention to detail and nuance while stressing that preventative health represents the cornerstones of a long and satisfying life. He is excited to bring his experience derived from complex and various practice settings to the community in which he was raised. Michael has clinical expertise in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, diabetes, alcohol-use disorder, liver disease, men’s health, and complex, chronic disease management.

When not in the clinic, Michael enjoys time at home with his wife, Lizzy, children Michael and Patricia, golden retriever Delavan, and cat, Susanna. He is proud to serve the community on the board of his high school, Montini Catholic, acting as Treasurer of the Northern Illinois Chapter of the American College of Physicians, and seeing underserved patients at the Community Health Clinic in Ukrainian Village. As some men tend to do at his stage of life, he is taking up the hobbies of wood-smoked BBQ, vinyl record collecting, and attempting to not embarrass himself on the golf course.
